Arsenal's north London dominance continues over Tottenham

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed immense satisfaction after securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Tottenham Hotspur in their latest Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium.

This win marks Arsenal's third consecutive league triumph over their fierce rivals, showcasing their dominance in the north London derby.

Arteta, reflecting on the match, said, "I'm extremely happy. We have the opportunity to make a lot of our supporters very happy because it's the most special day of the season, and I think we've done that."

He also praised the atmosphere, noting, "Today was one of the best (atmospheres) that I've seen. That's what we have to do consistently."

The game started with Tottenham showing early resilience, with Radu Dragușin making a crucial block against Leandro Trossard's attempt. However, it was Tottenham who struck first when Son Heung-min capitalized on a corner, scoring with a deflected shot past Arsenal's goalkeeper, David Raya.

Arsenal's response was swift and effective. Gabriel Magalhaes equalized with a powerful header from a Declan Rice corner, which took a significant deflection before beating Tottenham's goalkeeper, Antonin Kinsky. The turnaround was completed before halftime when Trossard's angled shot found its way into the net, despite Kinsky's efforts.

The second half saw Arsenal unable to extend their lead, with Kai Havertz missing a clear chance to score. Despite these opportunities, Arsenal's defense held firm against any Tottenham resurgence, ensuring the points stayed at home.

This victory not only keeps Arsenal's title hopes alive, moving them to within four points of league leaders Liverpool, but also underlines their recent superiority in this storied rivalry. The Gunners have now achieved a rare feat by winning their last three league encounters against Tottenham, a milestone not reached since the late 1980s.

For Tottenham, this defeat adds to a challenging season, leaving them in 13th place after securing only one win in their last nine league matches. The gap to Arsenal now stands at 16 points, highlighting the contrasting fortunes of these two clubs in the current campaign.

Arteta concluded, "On top of that, I think they will feel very proud about the team and about the players that we have and how privileged we are that they are representing this football club in the way that they do."

His words resonate with Arsenal fans, who are witnessing a team not only capable of competing but also of celebrating victories in one of football's most intense rivalries.
