Arsenal's pursuit of Alexander Isak hindered by financial constraints

Arsenal's hopes of signing Newcastle United's Alexander Isak this summer face significant obstacles, primarily due to financial limitations.

The Gunners, while admirers of the Swedish striker, are unlikely to meet the staggering fee that could surpass the British record 115m pounds Chelsea paid for Moises Caicedo.

Manager Mikel Arteta and former sporting director Edu have long been fans of Isak, with the player's camp aware of Arsenal's interest.

However, any potential move depends on Arsenal orchestrating significant player departures.

The club plans to entertain offers for Gabriel Jesus at the end of the season, while Oleksandr Zinchenko may leave this month.

Additionally, Thomas Partey's 150,000-pounds-a-week wages will be removed when his contract expires in June, potentially freeing funds.

Arsenal are compliant with Profit and Sustainability Rules but remain cautious under owner Stan Kroenke, who is unlikely to sanction a record-breaking transfer.

Meanwhile, Newcastle are in no rush to sell. Isak, their top earner, is contracted until 2028 and is pivotal to their ambitions.

The Swedish international's performance has further solidified his value, notably his man-of-the-match display in Newcastle's 2-0 Carabao Cup semi-final win over Arsenal.

With 15 goals this season, Isak remains a key figure for Newcastle, particularly as they eye Champions League qualification, which aligns with his ambitions.
