The 25-year-old right-back had a difficult start, after joining the team from Udinese for ¬20m, but he has been performing well in recent months.
Molina began his professional career with Rosario Central in his native Argentina, where he quickly became a fan favorite due to his impressive performances on the pitch. His talent did not go unnoticed, and in 2020 he was signed by Udinese in Italy.
Molina's transition to European football was not easy, and he struggled to find his footing in his first few months at Udinese. However, he quickly adapted to the new style of play and became a regular starter in the team.
According to Relevo, Atletico are now considering improving Molina's contract.
He has completed 81% of the team's minutes this season and has started 37 of the 43 games, making him "non-transferable" in the team's eyes.
This is somewhat surprising, as the team does not have a significant surplus in their salary limit, and Molina has only been with them for a year, with another four years remaining on his contract.
However, it is understandable that Atletico is pleased with the World Cup winner's performance and sees him as a vital part of their future success.
