Chelsea's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is set to join Marseille on a free transfer, while Marc Guehi could reunite with the Blues.
Aubameyang's departure was inevitable, after missing out on Mauricio Pochettino's pre-season tour, and he is poised to sign a three-year deal with the French club.
Chelsea's focus has been on player sales, hence they have decided not to demand a transfer fee for Aubameyang.
With their attention now turning to reinforcements, Chelsea are considering a potential reunion with Guehi from Crystal Palace.
The defender left Chelsea for Palace two years ago but, as per the agreement, Chelsea have the right to match bids from other clubs for the England centre-back.
While Arsenal and Tottenham have shown interest, no concrete offers have been made yet.
Considering Wesley Fofana's serious knee injury, which will sideline him for most of the upcoming season, Chelsea are contemplating whether to invest in a central defender, and Guehi is a strong candidate for the role.
Mauricio Pochettino is keen on bolstering his midfield and Chelsea have had a £70m bid for Moises Caicedo rejected by Brighton. The Blues might consider an improved offer for the midfielder.
Additionally, Chelsea are eyeing Montpellier striker Elye Wahi, who impressed in Ligue 1 last season with 19 goals.
If the deal goes through, Chelsea plan to loan Wahi to Strasbourg, in which they recently acquired a majority stake.
While Chelsea boasts options in their current defensive lineup, with Thiago Silva, Benoit Badiashile, Levi Colwill, and Trevoh Chalobah, the situation is not without its challenges.
Silva is approaching 39, Badiashile is recovering from injury, and Chalobah has drawn interest from Internazionale.
The club must weigh the need for additional depth in defence, especially as they lack height in central midfield.
As of now, they have not made a formal move for Guehi, but the situation remains fluid and other names may come into consideration.
