The draw was conducted in Johannesburg on Thursday afternoon.
Bafana, third-place finishers in the last edition of the continental championships in Côte d'Ivoire, have been drawn in Group K, and will be traveling to Uganda, Republic of Congo, and South Sudan to determine their qualification for the 2025 showpiece in Morocco.
The top two sides in each of the 12 groups will clinch their spots at the 35th edition of the tournament.
Elsewhere, the hosts have been pitted in Group B, where only one other nation between Gabon, Central African Republic, and Lesotho will qualify.
The opening two rounds of qualifiers are scheduled for the next FIFA international window, 2-10 September 2024, with double matchdays scheduled for the proceeding windows in October and November 2024.
CAF further confirmed the dates of the tournament, which will kick off on 21 December 2025 and conclude on 18 January 2026 – less than five months before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in USA, Canada and Mexico.
