Banyana's Dlamini withdrawn from London camp

Banyana Banyana will be minus the services of number-one goalkeeper and one of the captains Andile Dlamini when they take on Australia at the Kingsmeadow Stadium in London on Saturday.

This was announced by head coach Desiree Ellis just before their final training session in Johannesburg today, as she revealed that Dlamini will miss out from this camp due to a family bereavement.

Another player missing out is defender Cynthia Makete of Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies, who was in line for her international debut, this due to the late acquisition of her passport and therefore she was unable to secure a visa for the trip.

"The overseas-based players will link up with us [in London] – Cynthia Makete can't travel, she only got her passport yesterday. We speak about this all the time, that players need to have documents," explained Ellis.

"If you aspire to play for the national team, you need to make sure that you have documents. There are players abroad that don't have documents, players that we monitor, and if you don't have your documents then we cannot select you.

"I actually had to withdraw Andile Dlamini [because] she's got a bereavement in the family, and so we're supporting her from afar but she had to withdraw. Otherwise, the rest of the players are ready to travel."

Another player who will be missing from this camp is French-based attacker Noxolo Cesane, who recently joined Stade Reims, with visa issues prohibiting her from leaving France at this stage.

"Unfortunately, visa problems. She can't make it either, so that's a real bummer for us. It's unfortunate that we don't have her because we would have loved to see what she's learnt over the last couple of weeks. But going forward, she definitely will be available," Ellis concluded.
