Barcelona bolstered as Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor return to squad

FC Barcelona have officially reinstated forwards Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor into their squad after a contentious ruling by Spain's Higher Sports Council (CSD) granted a provisional injunction.

The decision, met with sharp criticism from La Liga and its president Javier Tebas, allows the pair to play in upcoming fixtures, including Sunday's Spanish Super Cup final against Real Madrid.

La Liga, despite expressing dissatisfaction with the ruling, have complied with the CSD's resolution. Both players, removed from Barcelona's roster on the first of the month, are now fully registered with the club.

Manager Hansi Flick could feature them in his plans for the high-stakes clash this weekend.

In a statement released on Wednesday, La Liga made clear their objection to the decision. "We will thoroughly examine the content of the ruling with the aim of pursuing appropriate legal challenges. However, we must express our absolute disagreement with this outcome," the organisation stated.

Javier Tebas has been vocal in his disapproval, taking to social media to highlight what he considers a disregard for La Liga's economic regulations. "This provisional measure by the CSD contradicts the principles outlined in the Sports Law, which praises La Liga's financial oversight.

"These controls, recognised globally, have saved many historic clubs from ruin and ensured integrity both on and off the pitch. The CSD's decision undermines this framework, showing a lack of understanding of its implications," Tebas wrote.

The CSD defended its actions, citing the potential harm that rejecting the injunction could cause. In their justification, they argued that "failure to adopt this measure would result in significant economic and sporting damage to the club, the players, and the Spanish national team, while also affecting other domestic competitions, including La Liga."

As tensions rise between La Liga and the CSD, Barcelona are set to benefit from the return of Olmo and Víctor, potentially strengthening their bid for silverware this season.

The spotlight now turns to the Super Cup final against Los Blancos, where the duo's impact could prove decisive.
