Bayer Leverkusen ready to clash with Bayern Munich in Bundesliga showdown

Bayer Leverkusen prepare to face Bayern Munich on Saturday evening in a pivotal Bundesliga clash, which many consider a potential six-pointer for the top of the table.

Despite their impressive achievement of lifting the Meisterschale unbeaten last season, Leverkusen have already suffered a setback this campaign, falling to a 3-2 defeat at home against RB Leipzig.

Bayern Munich, on the other hand, boast a flawless start to life under new head coach Vincent Kompany, showcasing the league's strongest attacking and defensive records.

However, they have yet to encounter a formidable opponent, raising questions about their true title credentials.

Granit Xhaka spoke to Sky Germany ahead of the match, acknowledging the challenge of facing a side of Bayern's calibre. "This is a Champions League opponent," Xhaka remarked.

"We know how much potential Bayern have and what new ideas Kompany brings. Their offence is potent, and they concede few goals. It's definitely going to be a top game, and we're ready for it."

Xhaka noted the different nature of the pressure they faced. "If you become champions and cup winners, the pressure would be higher on us, but I feel we can handle it well," he stated.

"A game in Munich against Bayern is always special, and we look forward to it."

He further emphasised Leverkusen's ambitions: "We want to be at the top for as long as possible. Our motto is 'one game at a time,' and our next step is Bayern. We want to annoy them a bit, just like last season."

With high hopes and strategic resolve, Leverkusen aim to make a significant statement at the Allianz Arena.
