According to Kicker, the Bavarian giants had shown significant interest in the German international, with personal terms reportedly agreed early on. However, negotiations between the clubs proved to be more challenging.
Leverkusen had set a firm deadline for the transfer, but Bayern struggled to meet the financial demands, particularly as they were awaiting the sale of Matthijs de Ligt to Manchester United to fund the deal.
Despite the initial optimism, Bayern's reluctance to meet Leverkusen's asking price threw the transfer into doubt.
Even if de Ligt's sale had materialised, reports suggest Bayern would still have opted out of signing Tah.
Uli Hoeneb, a key figure in Bayern's decision-making, ultimately decided that the club would not proceed with the transfer.
This decision was backed by Bayern's management, who deemed the deal unfeasible under the current circumstances.
Tah will now remain with Leverkusen, while Bayern will look elsewhere to bolster their defence, having drawn a line under one of the summer's most drawn-out transfer stories.
