Bayern Munich in top form ahead of PSG clash

Bayern Munich head into Tuesday's Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain on a high, having won their last six games with a 17-0 goal difference.

Most recently, Harry Kane's second-half hat-trick secured a 3-0 victory over Augsburg, extending Bayern's lead at the top of the Bundesliga to six points.

However, their Champions League campaign has been less consistent. With six points from four games, Bayern sit mid-table in their group, two points ahead of PSG, who have struggled with three consecutive draws in Europe.

Both teams are in strong domestic form. PSG secured a 3-0 win over Toulouse on Friday, maintaining their six-point lead in Ligue 1. Like Bayern, they are top of their league, but their Champions League form has been underwhelming.

Bayern and PSG last met in the 2022/23 season, with Bayern advancing 3-0 on aggregate after winning both legs in the Round of 16. Bayern still have several players sidelined, including long-term absentees Hiroki Ito, Joao Palhinha, Aleksandar Pavlovic, and Josip Stanisic.

Sven Ulreich missed the Augsburg game for personal reasons and may be unavailable for the PSG match, though Mathys Tel could return. Konrad Laimer is a likely starter at right-back, potentially replacing Raphael Guerreiro for his pace and physicality.

Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane are pushing for starts, with one of them likely to replace Kingsley Coman on the left wing.

PSG will also be missing key players, with Senny Mayulu, Lucas Hernandez, Goncalo Ramos, and Presnel Kimpembe all out injured.

Nuno Mendes will be assessed after missing the Toulouse game with an ankle issue.

Bayern's recent win over Augsburg showed their resilience. Despite facing a deep, organised defence, Bayern broke the deadlock with a penalty just after the hour mark before adding two more goals in stoppage time.

Coach Vincent Kompany acknowledged the difficulty of the win but stressed the importance of always improving.

"It's normal for it not to be easy, after all, it's a Bundesliga game," Kompany said. "We had 33 attempts and often found ourselves in their box. We remained patient and showed we wanted to score.

"I'm never satisfied because I want us to improve, but I really appreciate this win."
