Star goalkeeper and team captain, Manuel Neuer, who has been out of action since December 2022 due to a leg injury sustained in a skiing accident, has resumed training with the ball, according to coach Thomas Tuchel.
"It's a big pleasure to watch Manu in rehab because he's progressing every day," said Tuchel ahead of Saturday's Bundesliga match against Hoffenheim. "Yesterday, I heard noise near my office, and it was him doing his first goalkeeping exercises with the ball."
Tuchel's comments indicate that Neuer is not only back on the pitch but also actively participating in intermediate goalkeeper training, as he has been seen saving balls during drills. This is a remarkable recovery considering the severity of Neuer's injury, and it is evident that he is determined to regain his form as quickly as possible.
In late February, Neuer was spotted walking without crutches to a team meeting, a surprising development given the short time-frame since his injury. Now, he is not only back on the ball but also jumping around, a clear sign of his commitment to returning to peak performance.
Despite his age of 37, Neuer's spirits remain high, and he is on track to rejoin the team for next season's preparations. The lack of reports on his progress may indicate that he is taking precautions and not rushing his recovery, but it is evident that Neuer's determination and resilience are unwavering.
Neuer's return to training is a ray of hope for Bayern Munich after a challenging week, and it is sure to boost the team's morale. As Tuchel said, "Neuer's progress is a testament to his professionalism and dedication to his craft."
