Bayern Munich's 'wing war' and transfer talks heat up

Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany has discussed the fierce competition for wing positions, with Michael Olise, Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman, and Leroy Sane all vying for starting spots.

With only two places available, the rivalry for those positions has become fierce.

So far this season, Olise and Gnabry have been the preferred duo, but Coman and Sane have been making their case. Coman impressed in Bayern's 3-0 win over Union Berlin, scoring and assisting, while Sane played a crucial role in their midweek victory over Benfica, creating the move that led to the match-winning goal.

Ahead of Bayern's trip to St. Pauli on Saturday, Kompany spoke about the squad's options, hinting that rotation could be on the cards.

"Quality and talent are crucial, and we have two players for each position," he said. "If the boys continue to perform, that's great. It's all about freshness, and we'll rotate at the right times."

Bayern's squad looks healthy, with only long-term injuries to Hiroki Ito, Aleksandar Pavlovic, Josip Stanisic and Sacha Boey. Kompany added that the team is "fresh both mentally and physically" despite the packed schedule.

In other news, Bayern's 18-year-old loanee Paul Wanner has caught the attention of several top clubs, including RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen.

Wanner has been impressing at Heidenheim, scoring five goals and providing two assists in 14 appearances.

Bayern's sporting director, Christoph Freund, confirmed the club is in close contact with Wanner, who remains part of Bayern's long-term plans.

Meanwhile, Alphonso Davies' contract situation continues to raise questions. With his deal expiring in the summer, Bayern have reportedly made him a new offer, though negotiations are still at an impasse over wages.

Davies is said to be weighing his options, with Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Barcelona reportedly interested.

Freund remains hopeful, stating, "It's positive that Phonzy enjoys the style of play here and feels happy in Munich."
