Bernard Parker is yet to make a decision on his future as Galaxy offers him a coaching position

Veteran TS Galaxy attacker Bernard Parker has not made up his mind yet about the next step in his career if he’ll continue to play or move into coaching.

Parker, who has already been offered a position as a co-coach for the reserve team at Galaxy by the club’s chairman Tim Sukazi, is still weighing up his options. Sukazi recently revealed that he’s offering Parker and Vuyo Mere (the longest-serving footballer in the Premier Soccer League) a chance to coach the DDC team. The 38-year-old says he will still assess his options.

''Right now, for me, I have sat down with my family. Right now it's for me to make the right decision for my family. There's been talks and there's been interests - I just need to make sure that I make the right decision for my family,'' said Parker.

SABC Sport understands some of the other offers that Parker has received from other clubs are not necessarily for playing opportunities. The former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana striker says he will make the best decision for himself and his family.

''Last year I was in the same position as I am now. Also speculations and a lot of talk, and I went on for another year. But, I am grateful for the chairman, he really appreciates us. This is a great opportunity, like I said I need to sit with my family and make sure I make a great decision for them,'' added Parker.

This year marks 20 years since Parker turned professional. He played for Benoni Premier United (later bought by Thanda Royal Zulu) and also had a stint in the Dutch Eredivisie in the Netherlands and Serbia. During his time at Kaizer Chiefs, where he won two league titles, Parker also prioritized education, and he feels that he’s well-equipped for any assignment still coming his way.

Parker, who currently holds a CAF C license coaching badge, says he’s now focused on getting his CAF B license when the time allows.
