Betway Premiership wrap: Stalemate at Moses Mabhida as AmaZulu and Arrows share points

AmaZulu and Golden Arrows played out a 0-0 draw at Moses Mabhida Stadium in a Betway Premiership clash that delivered plenty of goalmouth action but no decisive breakthrough.

Both sides came close in a first half dominated by AmaZulu, who enjoyed 53% possession and registered eight attempts on goal. Hendrick Ekstein struck the crossbar in the 10th minute, while Golden Arrows' Ryan Moon narrowly missed the target with a header in the 20th minute.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with chances falling to both teams. AmaZulu's Etiosa Ighodaro hit the woodwork again in the 80th minute, squandering perhaps the best opportunity of the match. Meanwhile, Arrows saw late attempts by Olwethu Ncube and Velemseni Ndwandwe saved by the ever-alert AmaZulu goalkeeper.

The game was a tale of missed opportunities, with AmaZulu recording 13 goal attempts to Arrows' 10. Despite their slight dominance in possession, AmaZulu were unable to convert their chances and remain in 11th place on the table with 13 points from 11 matches. Golden Arrows, with 15 points from the same number of games, sit in eighth.

Both teams will reflect on what might have been, as their attacking efforts were undone by a lack of clinical finishing. For AmaZulu, the focus will now shift to turning dominance into goals, while Arrows will aim to maintain their position in the top half of the table.

Magesi hold TS Galaxy to goalless draw in Da Gama's debut

PSL stragglers Magesi FC ended a run of four straight defeats with a hard-fought 0-0 draw against TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium.

It was new coach Owen Da Gama's first game in charge following the sudden departure of Clinton Larsen in December.

Despite an energetic start from Galaxy, with Thato Khiba missing two early chances, the visitors held firm and gradually grew into the game.

Magesi's best first-half moments came when Tshepo Kakora's effort narrowly cleared the crossbar and Bafedile Baloyi headed over from Dimakatso Komape's cross. Meanwhile, Galaxy struggled to capitalize on their opportunities, leaving the match evenly poised at halftime.

The second half offered fewer chances as both teams tightened defensively. Galaxy came close late in the game, with Mpho Mvelase steering a corner just wide and Lebone Seema missing from close range, but ultimately the match ended in a stalemate.

Toothless Marumo Gallants and Richards Bay fizzle out to goalless draw

Marumo Gallants and Richards Bay played to a goalless draw on Saturday at the Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium.

Both teams, positioned just above the relegation zone in the Betway Premiership, were eager to secure a win to improve their standings.

Gallants, entering the match after three consecutive league defeats, including a 1-0 loss to Sekhukhune United on 28 December, sought to revitalise their campaign.

Richards Bay, having recently suffered a 2-0 defeat against Mamelodi Sundowns, were also determined to change their fortunes.

The match was characterised by a lack of clinical finishing from both sides. Marumo Gallants' veteran forward, Gabadinho Mhango, struggled to penetrate Richards Bay's defence, while Richards Bay's winger, Somila Ntsundwana, was unable to create significant opportunities.
