After weeks of waiting for her visa, Gamede finally jetted out of SA and has since enjoyed a few training sessions with her new teammates.
During that period of limbo, she could not play for UWC Ladies as she had been registered by her new club on the FIFA Transfer Management System.
Speaking exclusively to SABC Sport from her base in Farum, near Copenhagen, the 25-year-old midfielder-cum-defender was over the moon.
“Excited is an understatement for me, I still pinch myself now and then just to make sure that I am not dreaming,” commented Gamede.
“Me waiting for my things to be sorted felt like ages because all I wanted at that time was to finally taste international club football.
“It was very frustrating, I asked myself many times, ‘What did I do wrong?’ But deep down I knew I had to be patient because it was coming.
“And having good people around at UWC made me forget sometimes that I was still waiting. And, of course, my family checking up on me everyday also helped.”
Capped 30 times for Banyana Banyana, the former UWC vice-captain will be wearing jersey number 4 for her new club, as she explained how the move came about.
“My agent and I have been working to find a good team that can help me grow. So all these years that I was at UWC we have been looking, and don’t forget that I was also studying,” she added.
“Finally, we found a perfect team that matches my style of play. I feel this move will help me grow a lot. I have already trained with the team and I like what I saw.
“There’s a lot to learn, and hopefully they can learn one or two things from me. They play different football but a good one, so if I can learn that I will also be able to share it when I am called up in the National team.”
FC Nordsjælland are currently second on the league table with 27 points from 11 games, level with Janine van Wyk’s former club, Fortuna Hjorring Women.
