After parting ways with Nuri Sahin, Tullberg, previously the head of Dortmund's U-19 team, steps into the spotlight with a clear mission to end the team's four-game winless streak.
During his inaugural press conference as interim coach, Tullberg provided key updates on the team's squad readiness.
He confirmed that Serhou Guirassy, despite recent injury concerns, is fit to play. "He (Guirassy) will be able to play tomorrow," Tullberg declared, offering some relief to fans.
However, uncertainty lingers over Waldemar Anton's participation, with Tullberg noting, "Waldemar Anton didn't train yesterday, so we'll have to wait and see today."
He also confirmed that Niklas Sule would miss the match.
Tullberg's approach is straightforward and optimistic, emphasizing team morale and strategy. "This is about us. We don't have to make ourselves smaller than we are. We have a clear ambition to win. We have a clear plan of how we want to do it. The boys will understand that," he has said, showcasing his intent to galvanize the squad.
Meanwhile, the hunt for a permanent replacement for Sahin continues, with former Union Berlin coach Urs Fischer emerging as a strong contender. After his dismissal from Union Berlin in November 2023, Fischer expressed interest in the Dortmund job.
He is seen as an alternative to Niko Kovac, who, although favoured for the position, has contract stipulation issues with the club. Kovac reportedly seeks a deal until the end of the season with an option for extension, a condition Dortmund are hesitant to agree to.
As Dortmund prepare to face Bremen, the team and new interim coach are focused on turning the page and securing a much-needed victory. The match promises to be a crucial test of Tullberg's leadership and the squad's resilience.
