The club's depth once again proved to be a major factor in the victory, as substitutions Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Salih Ozcan provided the game-winning spark.
Bynoe-Gittens scored the first goal just 69 seconds after coming on, and Julian Brandt sealed the win with a second goal late in the match.
This marked the tenth goal scored by a Dortmund substitute in the Bundesliga this season, with Bynoe-Gittens and Gio Reyna each scoring three of those goals off the bench.
When asked about the impact of his substitutions, Dortmund head coach Edin Terzic said, "It's the quality of the squad. We've emphasized that on several occasions. There are guys who start the game for us, there are guys who finish the game, and there are guys who decide the game for us."
Terzic continued, "It's the tenth time in the Bundesliga that the guys off the bench have been able to score. We've seen it in the Champions League and the Pokal as well. It's extremely important that we can react to all the circumstances in the game. We hope we can continue to rely on such a strong bench."
With the majority of the club's squad fully fit once again, Dortmund is finally able to rely on their strength in depth as they head into the crucial part of the season.
The club will face Chelsea in the first-leg of the UEFA Champions League, Round of 16, on Wednesday.
