Borussia Monchengladbach have signed a contract extension with home-grown midfielder Rocco Reitz, keeping him at the club until June 2026.
Reitz's association with Borussia began at the tender age of seven, and he progressed through the club's entire youth development system.
"I'm very happy to have extended my contract. I've spent more than half my life at Borussia and the club has been my second home for a long time," said Reitz, as quoted by the club's official website.
"It makes me proud that I can live my dreams here and I'm thankful for that."
The 21-year-old earned spots in the first-team squad on multiple occasions during the 2020/21 season, marking his Bundesliga debut on 24th October 2020 in an away match against 1. FSV Mainz 05.
Unfortunately, an injury sidelined him for several weeks during the latter part of the season, limiting his appearances to just one more brief outing with the first team and six appearances for the U23s.
During the 2021/22 season, Reitz spent a year on loan at VV St. Truiden, where he made 23 top-flight appearances and scored two goals for the Belgian club.
"Rocco has really earned this considering his development in the past few months," said the club's managing director for sport Roland Virkus.
"He is a very ambitious player with a top mentality, who has also made an important step in footballing terms. And last but not least, I'm really happy that he's a local boy who came to Borussia at the age of seven."
