The 36-year-old was pipped to the award by Orlando Pirates’ Tshegofatso Mabasa, who managed four goals more than Grobler in the previous campaign.
Grobler believes he can give it another go if he is able to avoid injuries.
''I've said it before, I think anyone who goes into the season saying they don't want to win top goalscorer, then you are not a striker. I mean every striker wants to score as many goals as they can and I am no different. We are a team where we like creating many chances, as long as I can stay fit, I would like to challenge for it,'' said Globler.
Asked if he had set personal targets, Grobler admitted he was still eyeing legendary striker Siyabonga Nomvethe’s record of 123 Premier Soccer League goals.
''I've never really gone into a season and said I want to score this many goals, I have always focused on being fit and healthy, so I can be on that field. I back myself to score goals, especially in a team that is always creating chances, and obviously everyone is speaking about Nomvete's record, which could be a great achievement, and Peter as well, he still playing, so it is something that would be good for me and good for South African football, would be lying to say I don't want to get there,'' added Globler.
Grobler also commented on the new signings SuperSport have brought in, singling out ex-Pirates winger Vincent Pule.
''Credit to the club and the coach, I think he has done that for many years, where he has brought in young players which is good for South African football, but at some stage you need that experience and we have done that, bringing players with a lot of experience. I think Pule is going to add a lot to our team. The delivery he can get into the box, even from set pieces and at the same time he is a goalscorer, which is something we have lacked in the last few seasons,'' he concluded.
With the Tshwane outfit not involved in any CAF interclub tournaments, Grobler believes they can be strong contenders for the Betway Premiership.
