The Natal Rich Boys lost 1-0 to Magesi FC on Saturday afternoon, the visitors benefitting from a poorly weighted headed back pass by defender Tshepo Mabua to goalkeeper Ivan Otieno, which Tshepo Mashigo pounced on.
Truter argued his charges were their own worst enemy.
''Hugely disappointed, especially how we started the game. I think we started brightly, got some ball position in terms of creating some chances. Finally we got the ball into the penalty area on numerous occasions, and we failed to connect, and we knew they were going to threaten us on the counter, we managed to turn the ball over, very high and kept them at bay. Our rotations in between the lines was very good as well. Unfortunately we suffered, it was one goal and one mistake at the moment,'' said Truter.
The coach also added that their busy schedule, having played and lost to Orlando Pirates in the Betway Premiership midweek, had affected them.
''Amount of accumulation of fatigue over this period of time this week. Lapse of concentration that weighed us. Magesi was on the foot the majority of the game, they got the goal, and leveraged on the mistakes,'' added Truter.
Truter said he was playing his part as the head coach, but did not expect the squad to rely on him for an appetite to win matches.
''That is the problem because when you look at the coach to motivate you, then you have nothing, nothing to think about. I can teach you football, I can teach you everything but when you look at these ingredients - the war, the determination, the motivation, the drive, it is inside - I can't coach. Some players understand that but for some players it is okay to lose,'' expressed Truter.
With all that said, Truter will still need to lift the morale after the FIFA break for their league clash away to Kaizer Chiefs on 27 November.
