Breaking: Oswin Appollis set for Algeria move

SABC Sport can confirm winger Oswin Appollis is close to sealing a move to Algeria, with Polokwane City having accepted the latest bid.

Ahead of their MTN8 quarterfinal clash against Mamelodi Sundowns at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, the public broadcaster got wind of the fact that the Bafana Bafana international was soon to leave the Limpopo outfit.

The latest news come as no surprise given that Appollis has been the subject of speculation for months now, with first Esperance de Tunis after his services and then Kaizer Chiefs also enquiring about a potential transfer.

A few weeks ago, it appeared as though a move out of the country for Appollis had collapsed with Polokwane City understood to have ignored a proposal from Esperance despite asking them to improve their initial bid.

With the Tunisian giants signing winger Elias Mokwana from Sekhukhune United instead, it’s believed the interest now comes from Algeria and the name of the club is currently being kept under wraps to guard the deal from falling apart.

But SABC Sport has it on good authority that Polokwane City have accepted the offer and Appollis is now set to move pending a medical as well as personal terms being agreed.

It means Chiefs have missed out on yet another target and must now regroup, while Rise and Shine have agreed to sell their best player from last season for what is expected to be a record transfer fee.

Appollis joined City at the start of last season as a free agent and ended up being part of the Bafana squad at the AFCON and winning a bronze medal.
