The Nigeria international has become a mainstay of the Foxes team sheet since signing from Genk in 2017, but recent injury problems have limited his appearances this season.
The 26-year-old has started only seven of Leicester's 17 Premier League games this campaign due to the niggling injuries.
However, Rodgers has assured that the defensive midfielder will be needed as the schedule heats up in the New Year.
"We've got a really busy schedule in January," Rodgers said, as per Leicester Mercury.
"I had a sit-down with him and an honest conversation with him. He has struggled with injuries.
"It's sometimes coming away from the team and working on the training field. I can see his freshness.
"There's no doubt over the coming weeks he will get opportunities."
