Just before the beginning of the season, Tenyane turned heads when he was announced as the new sponsor of the Natal Rich Boyz, with a bumper R100 million deal that included R60 million directly to the club over three seasons and R40 million to start building a facility to be used by the club.
But now, he has since revealed that he’s looking at going a step further.
"There is a strategic decision one must make. Do you have a direct influence on the club virtue of how much you have sponsored or do you then almost have to be a partner to the club in order then to propel it? I'm assessing that at this point in time and sooner I'll announce the decision," Tenyane said.
"I'm waiting for few reports. Remember what I said in Richards Bay, I said one of their disadvantages is that they are playing away because they don't have the stadium and the facilities there, that's number one,” he added.
“Number 2, there is no other professionals behind them, data analysts and performance and toning of muscles and and and.
"So, that report I'm told is half finished because I'm also very impatient about having it before it's too late. One must then make these necessary decisions that then take us to that point."
Tenyane, an accomplished global leader, investor, and entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience managing multibillion-dollar global businesses, also made it known that his intention is not to be the sole owner of Richards Bay but to partner with the current chairman of the club, Sifiso “Jomo” Biyela and turn the club into a competitive outfit in South African football.
"That decision, I'm going to take at a certain point but I don't think the 100% buying of Richards Bay changes anything because Richards Bay must be in Richards Bay. They should not be any Bloemfontein Celtic situation that happens but that partnership, it is going to be formulated."
