Evidence Makgopa had put the Buccaneers in front from the penalty spot in first half stoppage-time but they were pegged back when Ousmane Meite equalised for the hosts after the interval.
The point takes Pirates to five after playing three matches in their Caf Champions League group after previously beating CR Belouizdad away and drawing with Al Ahly at home.
It was the South African club that started the contest on the front foot and they created numerous half chances as Evidence Makgopa, Deon Hotto, Mohau Nkota and Relebohile Mofokeng all went close.
Pirates' dominance was rewarded towards the end of the first half when Mofokeng was fouled in the box and Makgopa stepped up to convert from the penalty spot.
The home side were much improved in the second half and levelled matters on scoreboard when Meite's header found the net from a set-piece after 53 minutes.
The Buccaneers should have regained the lead not long after when Makgopa found himself one-on-one with the home goalkeeper but Drissa Bamba made an impressive save.
Pirates looked the more likely to score as the match was heading to the close as they dominated possession but could not breakdown a stubborn defence.
