Carling Knockout Cup wrap: Wins for TS Galaxy and Richards Bay

TS Galaxy and Richards Bay both secured their spots in the quarter-finals of the Carling Knockout Cup with hard-fought wins on Sunday.

TS Galaxy 1-0 Chippa United

Nine-man TS Galaxy progressed to the last 16 of the Carling Knockout Cup with a 1-0 win over Chippa United on Sunday.

Chilli Boys goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali had a busier night of the two shotstoppers, but with neither side able to find the target inside 90 minutes, the game went to extra-time.

Dzenan Zajmovic finally broke the deadlock with 103 minutes on the clock before being dismissed on 114 minutes for a reckless challenge.

Sepana Letsoalo was then red carded on 120 minutes for an off-the-ball incident.

The Rockets are next away to Marumo Gallants in the league as Chippa take on Stellenbosch.

Richards Bay 1-0 Sekhukhune United

In an evenly contested game against Sekhukhune United at the King Zwelithini Stadium, it took a Lwandile Mabuya goal on 42 minutes to secure Richards Bay's place in the quarter-finals.

Both sides had created a number of chances throughout the tie where possession was evenly distributed.

But the away team where wayward in front of goal and now turn their attentions back to the Betway Premiership.

The Natal Rich Boys are next in action at home to Stellenbosch as Sekhukhune play away to Royal AM.
