Despite joining the club only last season and being contracted until 2028, the Bundesliga side has added another year to Lukeba's deal, solidifying his future with the team.
However, his $90 million release clause remains unchanged, leaving the door open for a potential summer transfer next year.
Lukeba, who arrived from Lyon's renowned youth system for $30 million last summer as a replacement for Josko Gvardiol, has begun to live up to his early promise.
Following a season of adaptation, he is showing signs of becoming one of Europe's top central defenders. The Frenchman possesses all the traits of the modern centre-back, including physicality, composure, and an excellent ability to carry the ball out from defence.
His performances have contributed significantly to Leipzig's outstanding defensive record, conceding only two goals in seven Bundesliga matches this season.
Sporting director Marcel Schafer praised the 20-year-old, saying, "He performs every week and can definitely follow in the footsteps of players like Dayot Upamecano or Ibrahima Konate, who became world-class defenders at Leipzig."
With Real Madrid and other top European clubs reportedly monitoring Lukeba's progress, there are expectations that a bidding war could ensue next summer.
Leipzig's stance on the situation has appeared to mirror their approach with Gvardiol, whom Manchester City signed for the same â¬90 million release clause.
If Lukeba continues his current trajectory, he could very well become one of the most expensive centre-backs in football history.
