Johnson was speaking to the media after watching Sundowns clinche their record-extending seventh DStv Premiership title in a row at FNB stadium last night.
This was an eighth loss in 18 matches in all competitions for Johnson at Chiefs since he took over in October last year.
The 65-year-old admits that it’s been a tough journey.
"Up and down, it's been difficult and it's been nice as well. It's been a learning a curve and we learn from these mistakes and you learn from the wins as well. There are certain things that when you do it you have to remember. There are certain things when you do them you have to forget as a coach but you've got to learn, you learn every day and I hope I'm one of those human beings that can learn every day of my life,” Johnson said. “When you receive the scoreline that we received tonight then you probably learn the most. If you're humble to say guys I was beaten today then so be it but you've got to come back stronger."
But Johnson has defended his tactics from last night.
Responding to questions of whether he could’ve boxed smartly after losing center-back Given Msimango in the 22nd minute to a red card, instead of tweaking his defense and bringing on another defender, Johnson continued with the team he started with, and they were exposed in the second half.
"It was not a matter of bringing in another centreback, we had Zitha [Macheke] playing in right back which he can also play as a centreback and we put Zitha centreback and we put Maart [Yusuf] to the right back then we had Castilo [Edson] and we had Sithebe [Siyethemba] in the middle so we were more than happy with that.
“As you can see the whole first half we were more than comfortable, we were able to stop them from playing and stop them from scoring. So, we were okay.”
