The Sevilla winger, who was making his return to the national team after a lengthy absence, described the experience as one to forget for both himself and his teammates.
The trouble began when the Super Eagles' flight to Benghazi was unexpectedly diverted. On arrival, they faced another setback as they were denied access to their hotel, leaving the squad stranded at Abraq Airport for hours.
"We were locked in for about 16 hours," Ejuke told Diario de Sevilla. "It was a crazy situation that we did not expect.
"We were locked in the airport without food, just some water and snacks we had from the flight."
The uncertainty around the match grew, with Nigeria declining the Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe's request to go ahead with the game as planned.
Sevilla even attempted to pull Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho out of the squad amidst the confusion, but the match was eventually cancelled.
Back with Sevilla, Ejuke resumed training ahead of their La Liga clash with Barcelona.
Despite the difficult international break, the 26-year-old has been in fine form, topping the La Liga charts for completed dribbles, a testament to his flair and creativity on the pitch.
