Chippa secure second consecutive PSL win after beating Matsatsantsa

Elmo Kambindu netted late on as Chippa United secured a second consecutive league victory with 1-0 win over 10-man SuperSport United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

It was Kambindu's third goal in two matches after the Namibian forward scored twice in a come-from-behind 2-1 success over Richards Bay last week.

The visitors played the majority of the second half with 10 men after Thulani Hlatshwayo was shown a red card for a second bookable offence in the 51st minute.

The home team started the match on the front foot and looked a threat going forward with Luvuyo Memela and Augustine Mulenga featuring prominently.

While Chippa certainly looked the better side, the hosts did not do enough to test Ricardo Goss in the SuperSport goal.

It was only towards the end of the first half that Grant Margeman asserted himself in the middle of the park, allowing Matsatsantsa to see more the ball.

Gavin Hunt's charges however would receive a blow just five minutes after the interval when Hlatshwayo was shown a second yellow and given his marching orders.

Chippa sensed blood but they could not break down a stubborn defence until the 85th minute when Memela did well to play in Kambindu, who showed good composure before beating Goss.

It was the Chilly Boys' third win eight league matches that takes them up to fourth in the league standings while SuperSport remain in third place.
