In a thrilling Nedbank Cup round of 16 encounter at Mpumalanga Stadium, Chippa United edged out Golden Arrows with a 2-1 victory, securing their spot in the next round with a dramatic finish.

The match started with both teams showing intent. Chippa United's Ayabulela Konqobe and Aphelele Teto tested the Arrows' defense early on, with shots blocked or saved.

Golden Arrows responded with efforts from Angelo Van Rooi and Siyanda Mthanti, but they couldn't find the back of the net.

The first half was characterized by near misses and strong goalkeeping, ending goalless despite several promising moves.

Golden Arrows made the first substitution at halftime, bringing in Sazi Gumbi for Olwethu Ncube, looking for a tactical shift.

The second half saw Golden Arrows pushing forward, with Nduduzo Sibiya and Velemseni Ndwandwe attempting shots, but Chippa's goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali was up to the task, earning himself a yellow card in the process for time-wasting.

Chippa United broke the deadlock in the 71st minute when Sinoxolo Kwayiba headed in from close range, assisted by Giovanni Philander.

Arrows quickly equalized through Brandon Theron, but their joy was short-lived. Just minutes later, Theron unfortunately scored an own goal to give Chippa United the lead again.
