Chippa United in advanced talks with Kaizer Chiefs over Christian Saile

SABC Sport has established that Kaizer Chiefs and Chippa United are close to agreeing a deal for striker Christian Saile.

The Glamour Boys are desperate to free up a foreign spot in anticipation of signing an international forward and this potential move would be ideal for the club to bring in a replacement almost immediately.

Saile joined Chiefs exactly two years ago from Zambian outfit Nchana Rangers with the hope that he could replicate the form that made him a household name at his former club and on the continent.

But after a total 49 matches in all competitions, the DR Congo striker has managed only six goals and has featured more as a wide player.

Chippa United are on the market this January transfer window to improve their attack having already agreed terms with Kermit Erasmus, who was a free agent, and are now making progress to clinch the Saile deal.

Under coach Nasreddine Nabi currently, Saile has been a bit part player and only has six appearances and no goals.

It’s understood the player is keen for a fresh start and is open to moving to Gqeberha where he will work with coaches Thabo September and Mabhudi Khenyeza, who joined the Chili Boys following Kwanele Kopo’s exit.

The public broadcaster understands that Chiefs hope to secure the services of winger Oswin Appollis as well having officially submitted a bid to Polokwane City for the Bafana Bafana international.

With the Saile deal on the cards, the Soweto giants will still need to get a potential replacement even if the Appollis deal falls through.
