Chuba Akpom reaches 20-goal milestone for Middlesbrough

Nigerian forward Chuba Akpom has written his name into the Middlesbrough history book by becoming the first player since 1997 to score 20 goals.

The former Arsenal man scored a brace against Queens Park Rangers to reach 20 goals for Boro this season.

The last time this was achieved was during the 1996/97 campaign when Fabrizio Ravanelli bagged 31 goals, in a season which still resulted in relegation from the Premier League.

Akpom, who is eligible for the Super Eagles, scored in the 64th and 77th minutes to help the Championship side beat QPR 3-1.

Even though Akpom has publicly pledged his loyalty to Nigeria he is yet to receive a call-up to the national team.
