Dani Rodriguez turns down Saudi move to stay at Real Mallorca

Dani Rodriguez has firmly established himself as a crucial figure in Jagoba Arrasate's plans at Real Mallorca, with the La Liga club holding him in high regard.

The 33-year-old midfielder has been in solid form this season, contributing two goals and two assists in nine appearances.

However, in a recent interview, Rodriguez revealed that he was presented with an offer to leave Mallorca in the summer.

"I had an offer from another club for a three-year contract, but I prioritised staying here, where I am happy," Rodriguez explained in interviews with the Birmingham 99 podcast and iB3 Television.

"It would mean a lot to me to play until my last day at Mallorca."

Sources have confirmed that the offer came from Saudi Arabian football, a trend seen with other players such as goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic and midfielder Sergi Darder, who also received attention from clubs in the Middle East. However, like them, Rodriguez opted to remain at Mallorca, a decision that came despite interest from La Liga rivals.

Having played 250 official matches for the club over the past eight seasons, Rodriguez's commitment to the island is clear. His current contract runs until June 2025, but with his automatic renewal clause activated based on his appearances and minutes, he looks set to extend his stay.

At this rate, Rodriguez will not only continue to be a key part of Mallorca's plans but also further cement his legacy as one of the club's stalwarts.
