David Raya: Arsenal are in the title race but must focus on the present

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya expressed optimism about the team's future after they secured a crucial 2-1 victory over Tottenham in a fiercely contested north London derby.

The win ended a three-match winless streak across all competitions and brought Arsenal within four points of league leaders Liverpool.

The match began dramatically, with Tottenham's Son Heung-min scoring an early opener. Arsenal equalised soon after, courtesy of an own goal by Dominic Solanke.

Just before half-time, Leandro Trossard struck the decisive goal, ensuring the Gunners claimed all three points.

This result marks a turning point for Arsenal following a series of disappointing performances, including an FA Cup third-round exit to 10-man Manchester United and a League Cup semi-final first-leg loss to Newcastle. However, Liverpool remain title favourites with a game in hand over Arsenal.

The Gunners' victory comes despite significant injury setbacks. Striker Gabriel Jesus faces a potential season-ending anterior cruciate ligament injury, while Bukayo Saka is sidelined following hamstring surgery.

These absences have left Arsenal short of attacking options, but Raya believes the team's collective mentality will help them navigate these challenges.

"Yes, of course. In football, everything can happen," he said when asked if Arsenal can catch the leaders.

"Three weeks ago, people were saying that Liverpool had the title in their hands. But it is just football and everything changes in two or three matches.

"We have to focus on ourselves, try and win every game, and see where we are at the end of the season.

"We don't want to think too far ahead because that will play badly against us. We have to live in the present, that's the most important thing."
