Diego Simeone: Atletico Madrid are 'evolving'

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone wants his charges to keep improving after a hard-fought victory over Sevilla at the weekend.

Rojiblancos triumphed over Sevilla in a thrilling 4-3 La Liga encounter at the Civitas Metropolitano on Sunday.

This high-scoring affair highlighted both teams' attacking flair and defensive frailties.

Atletico started strongly, taking an early lead through Marcos Llorente. However, Sevilla equalised before halftime through Youssef En-Nesyri.

The second half saw a flurry of goals, with Atletico's Antoine Griezmann and Alvaro Morata finding the net, only for Sevilla to fight back with strikes from Suso and Rafa Mir, levelling the score at 3-3.

The match was decided in dramatic fashion as Morata scored his second and Atletico's fourth in the closing stages, sealing a crucial victory for Simeone's side.

"It is important that today the team played football. We knew about the opponent's transitional phases, but Griezmann had moments, and Gallagher was denied a penalty," he was quoted as saying by Marca.

"After Griezmann's first goal, the team continued to seek happiness in attack, and those who came on as substitutes knew how to achieve the desired result.

"We need to keep improving; we are working as a team, including those who come on as substitutes. This is not a coincidence - the team is evolving and believes in what it does."
