Hamann, a former Liverpool star, attributes Dortmund's struggles not solely to Terzic but also points fingers at both the players and the club's directors.
Following Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Mainz, extending Dortmund's winless streak to six games, Hamann expressed his sympathy for Terzic. He believes the coach is facing undue pressure, primarily due to repeated let-downs from the players.
"The coach is a poor fellow at the moment because he has been let down too often by the players," Hamann stated in an interview with Sky.
However, Hamann doesn't stop there; he directs criticism toward BVB directors Hans-Joachim Watzke and Sebastian Kehl. According to the 50-year-old football expert, the club's CEO and sporting director need to hold the players more accountable for the team's disappointing results.
"They have let the coach down. The coach has always been the lone voice, and they have always left him alone," Hamann argued, highlighting the lack of support Terzic has received.
He emphasizes the need for a shift in perspective, urging the directors to remind the players of their responsibilities, given the substantial salaries they earn and the significant crowds they play in front of each week.
"You have to tell the players that they are earning good money and playing in front of 80,000 people every week. The players also have a responsibility, and in the last eight weeks, they have not lived up to it," Hamann asserted, underscoring the players' accountability.
Currently positioned fifth in the Bundesliga table with 27 points from 16 matches, Dortmund face a challenging period. The Bundesliga action resumes after the Christmas break, with Dortmund set to clash with Darmstadt on January 13.
