Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel's job could be on the line if his club fails to secure the Bundesliga title, according to former Germany star Dietmar Hamann.
Tuchel, who took over from Julian Nagelsmann in March, has had a rocky start at the helm of the German giants, losing their top spot to Borussia Dortmund and crashing out of both the Champions League and German Cup.
Speaking to Ruhr Nachrichten, Hamann, who started his career as a youth player at Bayern Munich, expressed his doubts about Tuchel's performance so far, saying, "The leadership may be confused, but the coach also makes a very confused impression in his four weeks so far.
"If he also gambles away the championship, it's clear that his position would already be weakened." Hamann added that he believes Dortmund now has the title in their hands and Bayern will have a tough time catching up in the standings.
Hamann also criticized the lack of improvement in Bayern's performances under Tuchel, stating, "I've rarely seen a change of coach where things get worse in the short term. That's exactly what happened at Bayern."
Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic are also reportedly under scrutiny, with the club's board scheduled to meet on May 22 to discuss their futures.
After Bayern's recent defeat to Mainz, Kahn stormed into the dressing room and expressed his disappointment, saying, "We played a catastrophic second half. What the team brought to the pitch is not enough to win the title."
Bayern's next match against Hertha Berlin on Sunday will be crucial in their bid to get their title hopes back on track. With pressure mounting on Tuchel and the club's top brass, all eyes will be on Bayern's performance in the coming weeks as they strive to regain their former glory.
