Orlando Pirates 3-1 Kaizer Chiefs
The Buccaneers drew first blood with a penalty from Relebohile Ratomo in the 25th minute of the mini Soweto derby.
The game was level again just before the half-time break thanks to a Chiefs penalty converted by Donnay Jansen.
However, the second half was dominated by the home team as Siyabonga Ndlozi and Mohau Nkota scored to secure a comfortable win for Pirates to keep them within two points of top spot.
Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 SuperSport United
In Pretoria, Sundowns proved too strong for local rivals SuperSport, whose lead at the top of the standings was consequently reduced to a single point.
Siyabonga Mabena put the Brazilians in front in the 32nd minute, and the lead was doubled shortly before the interval.
Masandawana defended their two-goal advantage successfully after the break to move up to fifth position in the standings.
Cape Town City 3-2 Stellenbosch
In another local derby, Cape Town City impressively came back from two goals down to beat Stellenbosch.
The Cape Winelands outfit enjoyed a strong showing in the opening half which was capped off by two goals as Roy Avontuur and Vuyolwethu found the back of the City net.
The Mother City side responded with conviction in the second stanza. Jaedin Rhodes kicked off the comeback in the 56th minute, and Daniels equalised in the 84th.
A mere minute after the leveller Allies scored the decisive goal to clinch all three points for the second-placed side, who trail SuperSport by only one point.
