Eddie Howe: Newcastle filled with belief ahead of Wolves clash

Newcastle are riding high on an eight-match winning streak across all competitions, a remarkable run that has taken many, including manager Eddie Howe, by surprise.

Howe admitted he expected his side to find rhythm after an inconsistent start to the season, but he did not anticipate such a prolonged streak given the challenging fixtures.

This momentum was highlighted over the weekend when Newcastle secured victory against Bromley in the FA Cup.

"We're getting good results, but we take nothing for granted," said Howe. "We now head into two home games and they'll both be very, very difficult games.

"Wolves are under a new manager (Vitor Pereira), Bournemouth are having a great season, so we've got two tough tests ahead of us.

"But we're playing with confidence. I think the squad believes in itself, and we'll attack both games.

"I believe anything is possible, but I think with the run of away games we had, that (winning eight games in a row) would have been a tough ask. So, I think it's been a monumental effort from the players.

"I'm just really pleased that we've found a consistent level of performance. We have put a run together, which we needed to. We've put ourselves in a much better position and now we need to keep it going."

In league play, they recently defeated Tottenham and Manchester United, showcasing their resurgence in form.

Additionally, a commanding 2-0 win at Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg further bolstered the team's confidence.

Looking ahead, Newcastle face a busy schedule with back-to-back matches at St James' Park.

Wolves, currently languishing in 17th place, will visit tomorrow night. While Newcastle are favourites, Howe has cautioned against complacency, urging his players to expect a tough test.

On Saturday, they will host Bournemouth, who are exceeding expectations and sitting comfortably in the top half of the table.
