Egypt defender arrested after deadly car crash

The Egyptian Public Prosecution has ordered the detention of Zamalek and Egypt defender Ahmed Fetouh for four days, pending an investigation.

The decision follows an incident early Sunday morning, where Fetouh was involved in a car accident on the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road that resulted in the death of a police officer.

Fetouh, who was driving at the time, was accompanied by his Zamalek teammate, goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhi, as they were returning to Cairo.

After the accident, Fetouh was taken into custody at the Alamein Police Station, while Sobhi was released since he was not driving the vehicle.

Authorities conducted a preliminary drug test on both players immediately following the incident, with results coming back negative.

Despite this, the Public Prosecution has ordered a further drug analysis on Fetouh and extended his detention for four days as the investigation continues.
