The win, which ended a five-match winless streak for the Blues, was a much-needed boost for the team and fans alike.
Madueke impressed by scoring Chelsea's third goal in the 65th minute, capping off a dominant performance.
However, Maresca's post-match comments highlighted lingering concerns over the 21-year-old's work rate and focus.
"He can improve in the last third, but probably after he scored the goal he stopped playing. This has to be one thing that we need to improve immediately," said Maresca.
"Never happy if you score one or two, always you have to go for more. After he scored the goal he stopped playing a little bit and it's something that we need to improve.
"We just try always to help them to improve. After the goal probably he was a little bit tired, but it's the moment we need to go for more."
This is not the first time the Italian manager has publicly criticised Madueke.
Earlier this season, the winger was omitted from the squad for December's match against Aston Villa, with Maresca citing issues with his attitude in training.
Chelsea fans, while celebrating the victory and Madueke's goal, will be keen to see if the player can rise to his coach's challenge.
