Enzo Maresca: Chelsea ahead of my 'expectation', title rivals won't slip

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has lauded his side's remarkable turnaround against Tottenham on Sunday, describing the 4-3 victory as a testament to their resilience.

The Blues overcame a two-goal deficit after a shaky start that saw Marc Cucurella slip, leading to both early Tottenham goals.

Maresca, who succeeded Mauricio Pochettino as Chelsea's manager this summer, has overseen an impressive transformation.

Under Pochettino last season, Chelsea finished a modest sixth in the Premier League.

However, the team now sits second, four points behind leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand after their match against Everton was postponed due to Storm Darragh.

Despite Chelsea's strong position, Maresca has tempered expectations, cautioning that their Premier League rivals are unlikely to falter in the title race.

"We are ahead of my expectation," said Maresca after the impressive comeback win.

"In terms of the way we play on the ball, off the ball and in terms of the results.

"Arsenal, [Manchester] City and Liverpool probably don't slide - like Cucurella did.

"To be serious, we are not ready. We are far from these teams, but we focus on day-by-day and trying to improve the team.

"The plan or the idea is to not let the players slow down. They cannot drop because they know another player is waiting to come in."
