Eritrea withdraw from 2026 World Cup

Eritrea have withdrawn from their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Eastern African nation were set to kick off their qualifying campaign against Morocco on 16 November.

They were in Group E with Morocco, Zambia, Congo, Tanzania and Niger.

But the world governing body have since confirmed Eritrea's withdrawal.

Ann official statement read: "All of Eritrea's matches have been cancelled, while the rest of the match schedule for Group E remains unchanged."

Eritrea also withdrew from qualifying for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

They last played an international friendly with Sudan in January 2020.
