Everton's attack shocks Tottenham in survival boost

Everton have given their Premier League survival hopes a significant lift by securing a 3-2 victory against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

This win marked David Moyes' first three points since he returned to manage the Goodison Park club, replacing Sean Dyche.

Reflecting on his return and the victory, Moyes said, "It was brilliant to get a win. It was a great feeling to go down the tunnel 3-0 up at half-time and for the supporters to feel that they had witnessed a really good first-half performance."

The match began under dreary Merseyside skies, with both teams struggling for form. Everton, sitting 16th, had only one win in their last 12 league games, while Tottenham, in 15th, had lost seven of their previous 11 matches.

The Toffees quickly took the lead when Idrissa Gueye assisted Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who scored his first Premier League goal in 17 games, ending a three-game goal drought for Everton.

Spurs had opportunities to level the score, but their defensive frailties were exposed again when Iliman Ndiaye scored a stunning goal, followed by an own goal by Archie Gray from a James Tarkowski header, leaving Everton 3-0 up at halftime.

Moyes commented on the performance, "Maybe we were a bit unlucky not to have scored five in the first half, but I wasn't complaining, that's for sure."

He also noted the challenges of his brief tenure so far, "I'm looking forward to getting some more work into the players. I've been feeding bits in and maybe it's been quite difficult."

In the second half, despite some missed chances by Everton, Tottenham managed to reduce the deficit through goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison, but it wasn't enough to salvage the game.

This defeat marks Tottenham's 12th league loss of the season, highlighting ongoing defensive issues.

Meanwhile, Everton's win has pushed them four points clear of the relegation zone, providing some breathing room in their fight for Premier League survival.

Moyes also appreciated the fans' support, adding, "It was fabulous, it really was. I've not got the red hair anymore, it's the grey hair now! I hugely appreciated their support today."

However, he remained cautious, "But I'm not kidding anyone on, we're still in a big fight and we're going to have to need support at Goodison like we had today."
