Ex-Eswatini international Dennis Masina reunites with Pitso Mosimane

Former Eswatini, SuperSport United, and Bush Bucks midfielder Dennis “Yuki” Masina has reunited with his former coach Pitso Mosimane through his youth football programme.

Masina, who played under Mosimane at Matsatsansa a Pitori between 2002 and 2004, and again in 2006, was one of the 87 coaches who participated in the Pitso Mosimane Soccer Schools coaching induction at the High-Performance Centre in Pretoria.

The 42-year-old says, through the PMSS programme, he aims to give back to football and share some of the values he gained from Mosimane.

"I would like to thank the director and I would like to thank Coach Pitso for having me in this programme, and the whole team at Pitso Mosimane Soccer Schools," said Masina.

"For me, because I come from Swaziland and I played under Coach Pitso, and I know how he treats young boys and girls – just as he treated me when I came to SuperSport, so it's a good thing that he started this.

"It's a good thing that he's going to help football here in South Africa especially, and maybe we will have more players going abroad [in the future]."

Mosimane signed Masina from Bush Bucks in 2002, and the 42-year-old, who also played for Orlando Pirates and Mpumalanga Black Aces, recalls the role the most successful South African football coach played in his career – on and off the field.

"I wouldn't say he was my only coach, [but] he's the one who helped me build a house at home [in eSwatini] when I was still young – he went to my father and asked him if I had a house, and when my father said no, he told me he will take my sign-on fee and build a house," shared 'Yuki'.

"Even today we have a house at home, and my father passed away, but if it wasn't for him, I don't think I would have built a house at home because I was buying cars like any other young player.

"So, for me to be here and in this programme, I remember myself and that I'm going to help other young players do what he did for me."
