Speaking to the media just before his first training session with Bafana Bafana at Dobsonville Stadium this afternoon, Basadien has remained professional about the link to Chiefs.
SABC Sport broke the story about Amakhosi's interest in Basadien, but having recently renewed his contract for four years, Stellies appeared reluctant to release him.
Something he seems to understand.
"For me personally, I think it's to control what I can control obviously I'm contracted to Stellenbosch, that's where I'm playing. So, all I can do is put in good performances week in, week out,” Basadien said.
“I mean I'm there to do a job, never mind what's going on around the media. Obviously, it's good to have a club like Chiefs interested in you but I'm contracted to Stellenbosch and my focus has been there by Stellenbosch and just to put in good performances, week in and week out."
Basadien is one of the four new faces in this Bafana team, which is preparing to play Uganda and South Sudan in the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on Friday and next Tuesday, respectively.
The marauding left-wing back is relishing this opportunity.
"Obviously it's an honour and a privilege to represent your country. Growing up as a footballer you always want to represent your country and fortunately for me, I've put in some good consistent performances and the coach selected me. All I got to do is take my chance and make the most of it."
