Despite the slump, Flick remains optimistic about December, urging his players to adopt a fighting mentality and build on their strengths as they prepare to face Mallorca tonight (Tuesday) at Estadi Mallorca Son Moix.
Speaking to the press, Flick said, "The good thing is that November is behind us, and we're now in December. The team has shown great effort, intensity in midfield, dominance on the ball, and the ability to create chances. But we need to finish those chances and defend as a unit.
"Football is about goals, and we haven't scored enough recently."
Flick pointed to the recent 2-1 loss to Las Palmas as a reflection of their issues. Barcelona dominated possession with over 70%, yet their inability to convert chances proved costly.
"We didn't capitalise on our opportunities, and they defended better than we did," Flick admitted. "In football, you have to score goals and stay solid at the back. That's where we must improve."
Despite the setbacks, Flick highlighted the positives, praising the contributions of players like Pedri and Raphinha. "Pedri works tirelessly in midfield, and the younger players like Cubarsi and Inigo are stepping up. The team has a great mentality and a fantastic atmosphere in the dressing room. We're on a long journey, and our goal remains to win the league."
Looking ahead to the clash against Mallorca, Flick confirmed that Dani Olmo is available for selection, while Ronald Araújo is nearing full fitness. "Dani is ready to start, and Ronald is close to returning. It's great to have most of the squad available," he said.
Flick concluded by emphasising the importance of unity and determination. "We have to keep fighting. If we fall short this season, we'll come back stronger next year. But for now, our focus is on achieving success together."
