According to MARCA, on Thursday Gavi returned to training, albeit only partially, as he continues his journey back to full fitness. Although he still has some way to go, this progress marks a crucial milestone in his recovery.
The young Spaniard suffered a devastating injury during international duty in November, tearing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee, along with damage to the external meniscus.
Gavi underwent surgery shortly after, with doctors estimating a 12-month recovery period. Now, 10 months into that timeline, he's inching closer to returning to action.
Despite this progress, Barcelona and Gavi remain cautious. While the signs are encouraging, they are not rushing his comeback. The medical team, coaching staff, and the player himself are taking every precaution to ensure a full recovery.
Gavi was warmly welcomed back to training with a celebratory gesture from his teammates, as they playfully greeted him with pats on the back at the Johan Cruyff Stadium.
Throughout the summer, the 19-year-old has worked tirelessly, both with and without the ball, to regain his strength. His determination to return stronger has been clear, but fans will need to wait a little longer to see him in action.
Under the guidance of manager Hansi Flick, Gavi has now resumed some training drills, but his return to competitive matches is still a few months away.
Barcelona, preparing for their upcoming La Liga fixture against Girona, will have to cope without several key players, including Gavi, Andreas Christensen, Marc Bernal, Frenkie de Jong, Ronald Araujo and Fermin Lopez.
However, there's hope that Ansu Fati might be fit enough to feature in the squad for the Montilivi clash.
Gavi's gradual return is a positive sign for Barcelona, but patience will be key as they continue to monitor his progress.
