SABC Sport reported on Friday that Hunt had been offered to Sekhukhune United, but after there was no response from Babina Noko, he opted to continue with his current employers.
Hunt’s contract at SuperSport United expires at the end of this month, but SABC Sport understands the two parties are still someway off from in agreeing terms. Speaking after graduating with a CAF A License coaching badge, this is what Hunt had to say.
''Look when you come here, you get tucked away from reality. So I will get back this afternoon, and look at what is going on,'' said Hunt.
The possibility of Hunt joining Sekhukhune United, a club with Limpopo origins and a return to the CAF Confederation Cup next season, has sparked interest. The club, currently in search of a replacement for its suspended coach, Lehlohonolo Seema, could potentially benefit from Hunt's experience. Last season, Hunt led a youthful and stretched squad in the CAF Confed Cup.
''With Chiefs, it was fantastic I got to the semifinals and I got fired. So I couldn’t take the team to the final, that was a real disappointment for me, it will live with me for the rest of my life, it is what it is. For smaller clubs in terms of budget constraints, to get to places, it makes a huge difference especially coming from the South,'' added Hunt.
With United appearing to be cutting budgets almost every season, the jury is out on whether they will ever be competitive again in the Premier Division. Hunt, who also took Kaizer Chiefs to the CAF Champions League semifinals before he was fired in the middle of a very difficult transfer ban, also talks about the challenges continental tournaments bring in terms of resources.
Meanwhile, Hunt has also hinted that they could be loaning out some of the young players who were promoted from their reserve team last season. United probably promoted more youngsters than any other team last season, and the four-time league title-winning coach feels it’s important that they get game time elsewhere.
