Gavin Hunt’s daughter, Kaitlin, wants to coach in the PSL someday

SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt’s daughter, Kaitlin Hunt, wants to emulate her father and coach in the Betway Premiership someday.

Kaitlin was speaking exclusively to SABC Sport after receiving her CAF C Coaching Licence at SAFA House on Friday.

Kaitlin, who holds two degrees in Sports Science and Biokinetics, was among a group of young men and women who want to pursue a career in coaching.

She is currently working with the Balderstone Sports Institute in Johannesburg as a Strength and Conditioning coach.

"I am working in the strength and conditioning space, I'm a Sports Scientist and Biokineticist, I work in that space so the course has really helped me with my job and it's really helped me get a better understanding of a technical team and coaches and how coaches think," Hunt said.

"So, I'm kind of in that space at the moment but I know coaching will always be there, let's see where it takes me, hopefully PSL. I've always said I would love to see a female coach in the PSL and if it's me or one of us, that will be fantastic but there's so much space for females now at the moment. So, I'm just hoping we can move into those spaces."

Interestingly, Hunt says she had no intentions of pursuing coaching as a career but the profession found her and she is now enjoying it.

"Coaching was never part of my plan, it was never something that I wanted to do but I just said it's kind of a part that I fell into, it's kind of a side that I wanted to explore and I felt like I had a knack for it,” she added.

“I wanted to see where it could take me and as I said my dad never puts pressure on us, he kind of didn't say 'You have to do coaching, you have to work in football'. So, it’s kind of just found me naturally, which has been fantastic, so yeah I'm excited it's a nice journey to go on and I'm excited to see where it could take me."
